Torrents are a clever way for people to share files over the Internet, but they are also used by hackers and scammers. These risks are obvious, but what you might not know is that some torrent sites offer premium content for free with no piracy risk. If you're looking for something new to watch on Netflix or HBO without paying an arm and a leg, try these five torrents! 1) BBC iPlayer 1080p HD Stream - BBC iPlayer offers some of the best content on TV, including true high-definition streaming videos. The iPlayer actually offers a huge library of content for free, although it is only available from within the UK. The BBC often releases its most popular programs on iPlayer shortly after they air in the UK in order to provide viewers with the option of watching in high quality or to view shows that might be blocked by geo-restrictions. The downside to this system is that if you are traveling outside the UK, you will not be able to access any content through iPlayer. 2) Joost - Joost was once one of the most exciting Internet startups in Silicon Valley. It was purchased by Comcast for $250 million in 2008, leading many to suspect that it was nothing more than a front for the major cable company. After the acquisition, however, Joost struggled. Although it had all of the necessary content deals in place to compete with Hulu, Netflix and other online video providers, viewers were turned off by its confusing interface and spotty playback issues. All of that changed late last year when Joost announced that it would be shutting down all of its services. If you were a fan of Joost, however, there is hope that the content library will live on. In fact, some of the content that was once on Joost is now available through HBOGo and Netflix. 3) RuTracker - Perhaps one of the most underrated torrents out there, RuTracker is a great option for those looking for a good quality stream with no free ads or malware. Although it isn't as popular as other torrents such as The Pirate Bay and Kickass Torrents, RuTracker still manages to have a large array of offerings for its users. Because so many people use it without issues, it can also be one of the safest sites to download from. 4) Hulu - No streaming service has been more controversial over the last year than Hulu. After being acquired by NBC Universal, Disney and News Corp in a deal worth roughly $2.5 billion in 2008, it was announced in February 2009 that Hulu would be launched in a wide range of new markets. But when the service started to expand to countries such as Canada and Australia, it became clear what was going on behind the scenes: Hulu has been working its way into an international space that would allow it to offer viewers a large number of TV shows from major companies, all without having to pay exorbitant licensing fees for each individual show. cfa1e77820
