Jauharah Tauhid is the most widely used hanafi Quran translation published in Indonesia. It was first printed by Yayasan Nurul Islam, Jakarta in 1982 followed by printings at the Indonesian Islamic University (UIN) and elsewhere. Though the introduction of digital technology has changed publishing, Jauharah Tauhid remains unchanged. The translation is in the Classical Malay language. It closely follows the original Arabic, but it sometimes uses word variants. The translation was performed under the supervision of the Most Venerable Prof. Dr. Naqib Abdurrahman Nasution, former rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, who also served for many years as head mufti of Kementerian Agama RI/MUI RI. Prof Nasution had sought advice from scholars, including Prof. Hamka, Suyuthi, Drs. Mansyur Turmudzi and Ibnu Mizen. The translation team included Prof. Abdullah Gymnastiar, Prof. Mulyadi and Dr. Muthmainnah Jaarafi. The translation was edited by Kiai Haji Abdurahman Wahid and other team members. Jauharah Tauhid is a revised translation of Jauharah Qawi based on Qawi's original translation. It is a literal interpretation in which the translator interpreted the meaning of each word in Arabic. The word order in Jauharah Tauhid may not be in accordance with Malay grammatical rules. There are also cases where the translation does not adequately capture the semantic meaning of words when translating from Arabic to Malay. Nonetheless, it was believed to perfectly serve its purpose when it was published, especially when the community was at its most vulnerable stage following Suharto's fall in 1998 Jauharah Tauhid contains three volumes and about 12 million words in total. It is divided into sections, which are General Principles, Beliefs, Rituals and Devotions. The methodology used in the translation was explained by Naqib Nasution. It has led to many discussions among scholars about the translation process. Jauharah Tauhid has been translated as follows: There are at least four volumes of Jauharah Tauhid:The remaining part of Jauharah Tauhid was published as a book called "Ma'dhul Ijma' fi Roem". It contains the views that had not been published in Jauharah Tauhid and other writings on Islamic theology by Prof Nasution and Ibnu Mizen. cfa1e77820
